Phase 1a - LATE SPRING 2026 (during DBU Choir Auditions) - ONLY FOR STUDENTS ENROLLED IN ON-CAMPUS COURSES AT DBU

1) Register for Musical Theatre Practicum with your advisor for Fall 2026 (course numbers at www.dbu.edu/ensembles)

Phase 1a or 1b in addition to Phase 2 are required for casting.

AUDITION LOGISTICS

Phase 1a & 1b - NO PREPARATION REQUIRED

Phase 2 Dance Portion 

Come prepared to learn a musical theatre dance audition in the style of the show. You may be asked to stay to learn an additional combination. Dress appropriately for a dance audition. Appropriate and modest dance or exercise attire is expected. Jazz or ballet shoes are appropriate for the audition. All cast (including ensemble) members are required to complete the Dance Portion of the audition - be prepared to submit your Cast Commitment Form at the conclusion of the Dance Audition.

Phase 2 Lead/Named Role Auditions 

Prepare, memorize, and perform the appropriate cuts from the selections below for the character/songs for which you are auditioning. Most likely we will only hear one or two cuts at the initial audition. Do not expect to sing for every role in the show. Audition order, day, and time is determined by filling out the two forms below.   Dress your best for the Vocal Performance Audition appropriate to the character for which you wish to be considered.

1) Complete the interest form online so we know to schedule your audition, 2) bring a signed copy of the Cast Commitment Form above to the Dance Audition 3) be prepared for us to hear cuts from any of the following:

• Auditioning for Anya - any part of Journey to the Past, In My Dreams or Crossing a Bridge

• Auditioning for Dimitry or Gleb - any part of My Petersburg or Still

• Auditioning for Vlad - any part of The Countess and the Common Man or Learn to Do It

• Auditioning for Countess Lilly or Empress Romanov - any part of The Countess and the Common Man

• Auditioning for Any other ensemble leads - select one or more from the list above

Phase 2 Final Call Back Auditions - selected individuals will be notified on Thursday 8/27 in the evening via email.  Come prepared to sing, dance and engage in dramatic readings from the script.

REHEARSAL

Our first Company Meeting/Rehearsal is Tuesday September 1st in Roberts 206 at 4:30 PM. Check the Weekly Call Schedule on this website for detailed plans for each rehearsal.

After casting, each cast member receives the script and score. Each cast member is responsible for learning lines, lyrics, and parts by deadlines provided in class.

Dates and times are subject to change and every actor may not be needed for every rehearsal, but should clear your calendar of all conflicts.
